About us

Medefix is and always was a family business originally set up by husband and wife team of Mark and Sally Fields in 2011.

The business has continued to grow for several years. It still works closely with the local dental practices. But the team now also supports healthcare teams in over 80 prisons in England and Wales, delivering services for the key organisations in the sector.

In 2025 it was taken over by an old RAF colleague of Mark’s, Rob who also had a successful dental engineering company serving predominantly practice in Cumbria, the Scottish borders and Lancashire.

Rob was sub contracted to do much of the prison work for two years and is now sole director. The business is operated by a small team based in various locations but managed from Appleby. Cumbrian Dental Engineering is now a trading name of Medefix Ltd providing a more efficient and robust service.

About Rob

Like Mark, before Medefix Rob was in the Royal Air Force (RAF) as a medical and dental equipment manager and maintenance technician for 12 years. He was trained by the leading manufacturers. Over the years he travelled far and wide to repair and maintain medical and dental equipment, set up field hospitals, and was part of Critical Care in Air Support Team (CCAST) bringing the critically ill and injured back to the UK.

Outside of the RAF he expanded on his Electrical Engineering background attaining a HND and being an electrical engineering manager in a local gypsum mine for 9 years whilst keeping a hand in the dental industry which he was keen to get back into leading to the creation of Cumbrian Dental Engineering which has remained a key focus of the business as a whole.
